Copper-U.S.S.A. US Halfpipe Grand Prix

Top freeskiers and snowboarders from around the globe will compete in their quest for the title of overall winner during the kickoff to America's largest competitive tour-the U.S.S.A. Halfpipe Grand Prix and the Paul Mitchell Progression Session. Past competitors include Shaun White, jess Cumming, Simon Dumont, Louie Vito and Gretchen Bleiler. www.ussa.org

Breckenridge-Winter Dew Tour  

Showcasing the world's top freeski and snowboard athletes competing in slopestyle and superpipe, the Winter Dew Tour begins at Breckenridge Ski Resort, continues to Killington Resort and concludes with the Toyota Championship at Snowbasin, a Sun Valley Resort. The Winter Dew Tour will be televised live on NBC with additional domestic and international programming reaching more than 200 million households worldwide.

Frisco - Wassail Days

Experience Frisco, Colorado's distinctive mountain charm this holiday season. Frisco-Best in the West Chili Contest

The Best in the West Chili Contest is a long standing tradition in Frisco, Colorado. The event showcases professional and amateur talent from Summit County competing in three division: Red, Green and Vegetarian. Kids 12 and under are FREE! Cost: Admission to the Best in the West Chili contest includes all you can eat chili and two drink tickets from 5 pm - 7 pm. Additional drinks are available at the bar.

Keystone - Betty Fest

Specific Weekends Throughout the Winter

Ladies! Join the fun and sharpen your skiing skills! Whether you are just getting comfortable on green trails, want help in the moguls, or aspire to conquer any Black Diamond with ease, Betty Fest is for you! Betty Fest is a two-day ski improvement workshop taught by Keystone’s top female PSIA Certified instructors. It includes on mountain coaching, video analysis and lunch. Groups are small and supportive, and instruction addresses the unique needs of women skiers. Come and enjoy a weekend of skill and confidence building in a relaxed, non-intimidating environment!

January

Breckenridge - Ullr Fest-Ullr Fest

An annual wacky winter festival like no other, and it is taking place January 8 - 14, 2012. During Ullr Fest in Breckenridge, don't be surprised to see horned Viking hats adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders, Ullympic competitors flinging frying pans for prizes, more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade and crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub.

Aspen- Winter X Games

More than 200 ski, snowboard and snowmobile athletes from across the globe will land in Aspen/Snowmass to compete in ESPN’s Winter X Games on Buttermilk.   All events at Buttermilk are FREE and open to the public.  In addition to the action at Buttermilk, Aspen/Snowmass will host a FREE Bud Light Hi-Fi concert at the base of Aspen Mountain. The annual Winter X Games is the premier winter action sports event in the world, featuring athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the sports of Ski, Snowboard and Snowmobile.  Winter X Games 16 will feature nighttime events and will be telecase live on ESPN and ABC.
 
In addition to 24 hours of live programming on ESPN, Winter X Games will be offered for the first time on ESPN 3D for all the SuperPipe, Slopesyle and Big Air competitions, as well as on ESPN International, XGames.com, ESPN3, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center.

A-Basin-Annual Beacon Bowl and Avalanche Awareness Day

An event backcountry skiers and riders should not miss. Beacon Bowl entrants compete in timed trials to find a buried beacon the fastest. Spectators are able to test out the newest avalanche gear and attend clinics. Proceeds go to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center

Breckenridge - International Snow Sculpture Championships

During viewing week, the artists are done sculpting but the sculptures are here for your viewing pleasure. The Snow Sculptures are located in the area around the Riverwalk Center at 150 West Adams Avenue, Breckenridge. The competition sculptures are in the Riverwalk Center (Tiger Dredge) parking lot and the sponsor/exhibition sculptures are spread onto the "lawn" just north of the Riverwalk Center and across the river in the Blue River Plaza adjacent to Main Street. Event Headquarters are in the Riverwalk Center.

Breckenridge - Mardi Gras

Each year, New Orleans visitors and Mardi Gras lovers take over Breckenridge with masks, boas, beads, music and revelry to commemorate the carnival season. Breckenridge Mardi Gras will kick off in with it's annual Bacchus Ball at Beaver Run Resort.

Frisco-Gold Rush

Frisco’s Gold Rush Weekend connects the mining history of the past with the Nordic traditions of the present.   Frisco, Colorado’s Main Street of the Rockies was once the center of Colorado’s mining-boom and the convergence of two major railroads and stagecoach routes. At more than 9,000 feet, Frisco still values its rich mining history while being surrounded by some of the best ski resorts Colorado has to offer.  On Saturday Feb. 4 to Sunday Feb. 5, the Town of Frisco will celebrate Gold Rush weekend with events for the entire family, including historic lectures, museum movie night, a 5K moonlight snowshoe race, a huge bonfire, fireworks, and Nordic races.

Copper Mountain-Colorado Special Olympics

The Winter Games marks the culmination of the winter sports season for the 550 athletes who annually participate in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Snowshoeing, and Snowboarding. This season marks the 23rd consecutive year Copper Mountain will host the event. Copper is proud to be the official winter training site for all Colorado-based winter Special Olympics athletes as well as the official host resort for the Winter Games. www.specialolympicsco.org

Breckenridge-Spring Fever

Spring Fever takes place at Breckenridge Ski Resort as the town and mountain welcome visitors to one of the best times of the year for skiing and riding. Leadville/Ski Cooper Crystal Carnival

Leadville Ski Joring and Crystal Carnival Skiers are pulled by riders on horseback over jumps on snowpacked streets as they collect rings in a timed competition that draws teams from all over the country. Events include children's parade and snowman-building contest, nordic race, winter mountain bike race to Crystal Carnival events, dog sled races, snowshoe races, broomball games and more.

Keystone - Winter Culinary Festival

Experience Keystone’s award-winning cuisine at this resort-wide culinary festival.
